The Italian Patent and Trademark Office (UIBM) issued an announcement of funding aimed at SMEs for the promotion of renowned brands, which were in existence before 1967. The financial support ( a total of € 4,500,000) is linked to the purchase of capital equipment and specialised external services for the promotion of the economic and commercial value of the brand and related products / services, as well as to the strengthening of the brand, extending it to the EU and / or internationally, and also extending its protection.
There are two phases: Phase 1 “The Brand’s Productive and commercial opportunities”, includes the following types of expenditure:
- Production of prototypes and moulds;
- Purchase of new machinery and equipment for production as well as hardware, functional software and digital technologies to modernise productive efficiency, closely tied in to the development of the project;
- Technical advice aimed at the modernisation and efficiency of the chain of production, closely linked to the development of the project, and also from the energy – environmental point of view;
- Specialised Consultation regarding how to approach the market, planning business strategy, design of marketing and communication operations, closely linked to the development of the project.
The Phase 2 “Support Services”, on the other hand, includes:
- Consultation for global surveillance of the brand, to be carried out during the project to monitor and prevent infringement actions;
- Legal Consultancy for the protection of trade mark infringement actions;
- Consultation for the implementation of the brand trademark searches, aimed at extending it to the EU and / or internationally;
- Consultation for the actioning of the brand trademark searches, referred to in point 6, in other classes of products / services in line with community aim of the SMEs;
- Filing Fees with UIBM or at EUIPO;
- Taxes incurred with UIBM or EUIPO and at WIPO regarding International Registration;
- Support for storage.
