Technology transfer and innovation are the major themes in the “Biomedical Research in Calabria” forum with Mark Coticchia taking place on 5th May at the University of Calabria. Coticchia is the vice president and head of department for innovation within the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, an important non-profit biomedical company which includes hospitals and medical centres. The initiative, organized by the University Liaison Office and Calpark, is one of the stop offs in Italy for Coticchia, who is currently on an official journey under the auspices of the US Embassy in Rome.
During the forum, which will be held in the Liaison Office Seminar Room starting at 10:00, the person responsible for the innovation of one of the world’s largest biomedical companies will talk about his experience as a technology transfer expert, and opportunities for collaboration with the Henry Ford Health System. Clearly a great opportunity for all academic institutions that deal with biomedicals. The Forum will host representatives from the biomedical research areas of the other two Calabrian universities, in addition to the representatives of companies and spin-offs born from research at the University of Calabria.
Giuseppe Passarino, delegate of the Rector for Research and Technology Transfer at the University of Calabria, will open the proceedings, followed by Giovanni Cuda, President of Biotecnomed and molecular biology at the Catanzaro Magna Graecia University.
