BIOTECH WEEK 2019

biowproot 18 September, 2019

On the 23rd September the VII edition of Biotech Week will start, a week of events and meetings all over the world to talk about biotechnology to a broad and diverse audience, emphasising the key role that biotech has and increasingly will have in improving the quality of our lives.

This is a demonstration of popular science that was launched in Canada in 2003 and arrived in Europe in 2013 through the will of EuropaBio – the Association of European bio-industry – on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the discovery of the structure of DNA.

Since its first appearance, Italian Biotech Week has been coordinated and promoted nationally by Assobiotec-Federchimica.

Since 2016 Biotech week has gone Global: It is celebrated on different continents simultaneously, thus creating a truly “Global Biotech Week”, a sign of just how biotechnology represents a borderless resource, capable of offering solutions to the great challenges facing companies worldwide.

In Italy the event won the “Medal of the President of the Republic” in 2015 as a representation award.

All the events have been a great success, with hundreds of events across Europe dedicated to technologies, people, companies and organisations active in different fields of biotech.

With over 90 events scheduled throughout the country, Italy has been also confirmed for 2019 as the European country with the largest number of events catering to a wide and diverse audience: researchers, students, institutions, enthusiasts, companies, families, just to name a few. More than 50 partners have decided to join the event, amongst them businesses, universities, museums, agencies, institutions, proposing their own events for the week.

For the social media minded, the event can be quoted, followed and commented on using the hashtag #biotechweek and using the tags @BiotechWeekEU @AssobiotecNews @EuropaBio Facebook and Twitter Tags @biotechweek @AssobiotecNews @EuropaBio.

All companies, institutions, museums, schools, universities, associations, professionals in different areas in the application of biotechnology, researchers… in fact anyone interested in the world of biotechnology in different fields can participate in biotechnology week.

Just think of an event (a meeting / debate, a laboratory, a PlayDecide game, an artistic spectacular, a flash mob, company open days …) and send the application form to ebw.assobiotec@federchimica.it. Proposals that meet the objectives of the event will be included in the programme for the week and the European Federation will be updated immediately.
