In early March, Corporea, the first interactive museum in Europe devoted entirely to the issue of health, science, and biomedical and preventative technologies, opened its doors at Science City in Naples. Corporea is based on visitors directly experimenting with phenomena, it is spread over an area of more than 5.000 square metres, and is a programme dedicated to increasing knowledge about the human body and biomedical sciences, but is also an active place in the field of health promotion, of healthy lifestyles as well as scientific and technological research.
The journey offered by Corporea winds through 14 thematic areas, for a total of about 100 exhibits, dedicated to the different systems that make up the human body, with a view to prevention and health, complete with interactive exhibits that allow visitors to take one of the most fascinating journeys, namely within themselves: a route starting from the cardiovascular system and ending with the digestive system, enriched with exhibitions, macroinstallations, immersive video, experiences of virtual reality and direct experiments, which reveal the underlying mechanisms of life.
The exhibition also emphasises the issue of health and prevention, highlighting the negative effects that incorrect or irresponsible behaviour might have.
A special section is dedicated to history of medicine from Greek and Roman times to the present day. There are many interactive moments throughout the open labs that dot the path of the exhibition, but also, for example, there are multiplayer video games in the section dedicated to the immune system and a stethoscope and speaker system where you can listen to the different sounds produced by the digestive system.
