On the 12th January registrations open for Edison Pulse, the latest version of the competition for innovative companies, which is giving away 200.000 euro and other incubation services. The startups they are seeking are in four categories: as previously there are Energy, Smart Home and Consumer – plus the special earthquake reconstruction section, dedicated to projects for territories in central Italy affected by earthquakes in 2016.
This year there will be a 200,000 euro prize, an incubation programme, support in a business accelerator, and a media campaign. The new edition of Edison Pulse also aims to stimulate new collaborations or partnerships between energy companies and startups taking part in the tender, which must submit a separate proposal at the time of registration. Edison Pulse has so far seen the participation of over 1,400 projects amongst which startups, non-profit organizations, research centres and students, total funding 700,000 euro.
Registration will remain open until 28th March 2017. Startups can present their project and their development team on the platform through texts and videos. The competition site will perform the function of generating a community that has also been given the right to vote. Top rated ideas will progress directly into the final. In May, a jury composed of representatives from Edison and an expert team will choose 16 finalists (4 for each category), who will be added to the top 4 projects as rated by network users. Also in May, the 20 finalists will present a 4 minute pitch on their fundamental idea to the jury and respond to their questions. At the end of the presentations, the winners will be announced.
