You have until 12th June 2017 to take part in the seventh edition of the Gaetano Marzotto Award. With a prize fund of over 2 and a half million euros and an increasingly expanded network of partners, the Gaetano Marzotto Award is recognition that seeks new entrepreneurs and builders of the future who are able to combine innovation, business and society, creating a real synergy between the world of innovation and Italian industry, all having an international horizon. The process is aimed at supporting innovative SMEs and start-ups in the seedling stage, in a spirit of sharing between large companies and young innovative companies.
The Gaetano Marzotto Award is a competition open to individuals, project teams, startups and established businesses, who have a new business idea that can generate an economic return and have a positive social impact mainly on Italian territory, having both headquarters and its development base in Italy, but with capacity for international growth.
The proposals must be original ideas, both innovative and feasible, financially sustainable and able to generate financial returns.
In short, there is an award for business and an award for business ideas – the former, of 300,000 euro, for companies incorporated or with either a turnover of at least 100,000 Euros or a financial or industrial partner, with an exception made for companies in the bio / med / lifescience / health care sector which by their nature have timing and modes of development in their own right; the latter, where the award of 50,000 euro for a startup with a team whose average age is under 35, is up for grabs through participation in the two awards; a further 30 supported pathways offered by the network incubators and affiliated science and technology parks, and various special prizes sponsored by corporate partners such as: Amazon Launchpad Award, Award Especially Aubay Digital Transformation, Cisco Special Award, Special Corporate Fast Track Award (Vinicolo Santa Margherita Group is taking part, illycaffè, SANTEX RIMAR GROUP, Selle Royal Group e ZCube – Research Venture Zambon Group), Special Prize EY, Premio Speciale IngDan Far East Development, Special Prize Invitalia, Marzotto Acceleration Program Special Prize and Special Prize UniCredit Start Lab.
Since 2010, the Gaetano Marzotto Award has handed out more than 6 million euros in prizes and support pathways to Italian innovators and startups, with 286 finalists, more than 4500 applications received, 40 incubators and accelerators involved and a hundred jury members and active traders. In 2016 the Award gave prizes to 51 startups, amongst them EUCARDIA in the Enterprise Awards category, who devised an implantable cardiac device for advanced heart failure therapy, with the aim of improving the quality of life of patients, offering them a simpler, earlier, practicable, cheaper solution which is less invasive than existing cardiac intervention; and the WRAP Award for the company, whose idea was the invention of tissue therapies created using 3D printing for the treatment of diabetic foot sores, with customizable dressings, that could be placed on the wound until it is completely absorbed and the concomitant repair of damaged tissue.
