WHAT IS GLOBAL GATEWAY?
Last 1 December 2021 the European Commission and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy have launched the Global Gateway, the new European strategy aimed at promoting intelligent connectivity, digitally clean and safe, energy and transport and strengthen health systems, of education and research around the world.
Global Gateway aims to allocate up to 300 billion euros of investments by 2027 to support a lasting global recovery, building sustainable and reliable connections and creating the conditions to face global challenges, such as climate change, environmental protection, the improvement of health safety, strengthening competitiveness and global supply chains.
Many of the initial projects are financed from a mix of existing funds under the EU budget for the period 2021-2027, together with funds from EU Member States and private sector investment.
The majority of EU funding comes from the NDICI-Global Europe External Financing Facility, which includes the European Fund for Sustainable Development Plus (EFSD+), a financing tool that includes blending, guarantees and other financial transactions.
The program will be sent in the next few days.
