The Ministry for Economic Development (setting) – Directorate General for Combating Counterfeiting – Italian Patent and Trademark Office (DGLC UIBM) recently issued a notice for the granting of concessions for micro, small and medium-sized Italian companies for the exploitation of industrial property rights.
These measures, called MARKS + 2, aim to support the innovative and competitive capacity of SMEs through the provision of facilities for the safekeeping of brands in the Community and / or internationally. The resources available amount to € 2,800,000.
In particular, businesses will be able to ask the system to finance the following activities:
New brand design (verbal component design and graphic design);
Support for safekeeping;
Prior art searches to check the existence of identical and / or similar trademarks that may conflict with the brand that you want to register;
Legal assistance for actions to protect the trademark in case of opposition / refusal / consequences following the application for registration;
Subsequent designations of existing international brands;
Filing Fees.
Each company can make multiple requests for support, until they reach a total of € 20,000. The resources will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, according to the chronological order of submission of applications and until funds are exhausted (opening date for accessing support: 1st February 2016).
