Tech4You – Technologies for climate change adaptation and quality of life improvement

 

Description: Tech4YOU is a research and innovation programme (R&I) which proposes the creation of an ecosystem for innovation between 4 public universities, 6 research centers, 9 private actors(affiliated companies), 3 public entities (natural parks and environmental agencies), 1 ONG e 2 regional governments in Southern Italy.

Inspired by Horizon Europe's mission “Adaptation to Climate Change”, the project aims to develop technologies for adaptation to the climate crisis by improving the resilience of communities and reducing the economic gap in the area.

The main focus of Tech4You is “let us not remain inert in the face of the disasters caused by climate change, but let's act to change the world and build a more sustainable one".

The consequences of climate change are there for all to see: heat waves, forest fires, increasingly frequent floods and droughts. To these disasters we add variations in land use and anthropic pressure which are the cause of very significant land degradation and desertification phenomena.

Everything contributes to making the Earth increasingly vulnerable.

In fact, we are witnessing the “loss of the state of friendship between man and nature” resulting in emotional distress and reduction in the quality of life of each of us. And the real drama is that so many people (- 30% of the Calabrians and the 36% of the Lucanians) they believe that climate change is now an irreversible process.

E’ It is in this scenario that our research and innovation program intends to intervene, starting from the results of the most advanced research present in our laboratories, to get to: build a more resilient community, improve people's quality of life, reduce the catastrophic effects of climate change in our territories and strengthen the competitiveness of SMEs (reducing the research gap, market and society).

And to do this, multi-stakeholder involvement is necessary (Research, companies, society and government) to be able to act jointly in favor of and support resilient communities cultural transition capable of making us change our lifestyle in the hope of NOT being overwhelmed by the effects of climate change.

Thanks to this approach and the promotion of more sustainable lifestyles, Tech4You aims to inspire a new generation of researchers with the aim of demonstrating that using knowledge to develop innovative solutions is the true answer to the’last call for a green transition towards a sustainable future, inclusive and fair.

Study, design and validation of a wearable digital device for the management of activities within the Wellness Farm

Test a new wearable loT device capable of:

a) guiding a person through experiential paths within
the Wellness Factor: trekking in nature, tourist-cultural itineraries , tasting of nutraceutical products, relaxation in wellness& spa environments with the use of cosmetic products, etc.;

b) provide real-time information on the experience enjoyed: characteristics of the paths, nutraceutical properties of foods, information on the cosmeceuticals used;

c) acquire measurements of pulse rate, heart rate variability (HRV), skin galvanic response and photoplethysmographic estimate of blood pressure, to evaluate and quantify the state of well-being of the subject during the fruition of the experiences;

d) collect and process feedback from the subject on the level of satisfaction oft he experiences enjoyed.
