In the Ministerial Decree of 13th July 2017, n. 1735, the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR) announced that it is assigning 497 million euros to finance industrial research and experimental development projects in 12 areas of specialisation identified by the National Program for Research (PNR) 2015-2020. The total budget uses PON Research and Innovation 2014-2020 resources comprising 327 million euros and Fund for Development and Cohesion resources of 170 million euros.
In implementation of the PON Axis II “Research and Innovation” 2014-2020, the Ministry of Education is carrying out the intervention with the aim of creating and fostering an ecosystem favourable to the “bottom up” development of relevant projects through forms of public-private partnerships that integrate, connect and enhance the knowledge on subjects of research and innovation.
Applications must be submitted from the 27th July to 9th November 2017 through the internet system SIRIO (http://roma.cilea.it/Sirio) by companies, universities, public research bodies, public and private research organisations, public administrations and any other persons who meet the conditions required pursuant to Article. 5, subsection 1 of DM 593/2016. Eligible parties, in the form of public-private partnerships, can apply for funding for projects costing between 3 and 10 million euros.
The interventions will take place in the southern region, however, in the implementation of art. 70 of the Regulations (EU) 1303/2013, PONRI a share of resources is intended to support activities which will also take place in the remaining regions of the Centre-North, which demonstrably benefit the territories of the south in terms of employment, the capacity to attract investment and expertise, strengthening the competitiveness of businesses and the ability to capitalise on research results.
